The popularity of hiring a personal life coach is growing stronger these days. Many people seeking a coach wonder, how many life coaching sessions do you need? A life coach is much different than seeing a therapist or counselor. Those professionals see their clients in a long-term treatment setting.
Life coaching is much different. The goal of coaching is to prepare YOU to be able to tackle your goal on your own in the shortest amount of time. Seeing a life coach ignites personal growth, productivity, and helps you get focused.
Though coaching isn’t a long-term commitment, it isn’t a one and done either. I will explain more about how coaching works and how different goals require a different level of time commitment. My intent with this post is to provide clarity on how many coaching sessions you need to see the maximum results.
How Many Life Coaching Sessions Do You Need?
Each goal in life is achievable in the right amount of time. For example, if you are trying to lose weight, you don’t expect to lose it all in a few hours. But if your goal is to buy a new outfit for an upcoming date, you can easily do that in one day.
The bigger and more involved the goal is, the longer you may need an empowerment life coach to help facilitate your success. Short-term goals can be successful with fewer coaching sessions if you are someone who stays motivated.
Accountability is a huge factor in what makes coaching successful. You can think of it the same way you would when seeing a personal trainer. That trainer holds you accountable to put in the work during the session, the same as a life coach.
Sure, you can just buy all the right books and listen to motivating podcasts on how to achieve your goal, but can you stay motivated? There is a reason you are inquiring about a life coach in the first place, you haven’t been successful on your own. And that’s ok!
Short Term Goals
How many life coaching sessions do you need for short-term goals? Let’s explore some popular short-term goals of my coaching clients. Preparing for interviews is a common short-term goal that many people seek a personal life coach for help.
Perhaps you need a little bit of confidence-building to prepare yourself for upcoming job interviews. If interviewing gives you anxiety, a coach can help you work through that. Often we need someone to sit there and hold space while we go inward to see the strong qualities we have within.
For this short-term goal, seeing a life coach once a week for one month is often enough time to produce the desired outcome. Coaching sessions are all about the support that you can’t find with friends and family. The true and dedicated support you receive from coaching is very powerful.
When I think about long-term goals I think about making really big decisions such as long-distance moving, career changes, growing a business.
How many life coaching sessions do you need for longer-term goals depends on how dedicated you are to the work. Mindset Coaching will strengthen your skills to stay on task, and if you keep up with this practice, you can do it alone. A long-term commitment with coaching would be about three to six months of coaching.
Investing in a coach is really investing directly in yourself. And, though the financial commitment can seem scary to make, there is no better investment than in yourself.
The act of showing up for yourself is a powerful statement to the universe that you will reach your desired goal. Life coaching is all that you put into it. If you come to a session to ready work out your roadblocks and go into your truth, you see results.
When you see a coach for a lifelong goal it’s common that you would check in year after year. It is often not necessary to be coached on a weekly basis for years on end. When we are talking about lifelong goals, you are coming in for that extra help to clear roadblocks you come across.
Setting your sights on big life goals is a process, and seeing a coach helps ensure you will stay on track. This is why coming in periodically is so beneficial. My clients that are embarking on major life changes start off coming weekly for the first few months, then check in once a month thereafter.
Mindset Coaching is highly motivating to continue on your path. Many business coaches see clients year after year as they evolve in their careers. In the end, the number of times you see a coach is going to come down to how committed you are to your goal. What happens in a life coaching session is all up to you!
